Two stores can list the same product at different prices and still reverse places once you reach checkout. A useful comparison includes the product, delivery, any import-related charges and the practical cost of returning it. Start with the final order, not the biggest discount banner.
Know who is selling and shipping
A South African currency display does not, on its own, tell you where an order is dispatched. Look for the retailer's contact information, shipping policy and returns address. If it is unclear whether your parcel is local or cross-border, ask before ordering. A local retailer can sell international brands; a local brand and a local fulfilment operation are separate facts.
Compare the same item
Match the shade, size, formula and pack count. A small tube at a lower price may cost more per millilitre, while a large pack is poor value if most of it will go unused. A useful unit-price calculation is price divided by quantity. Keep units consistent and compare products serving the same purpose.
Use a delivered-cost checklist
- Product total after discounts you can actually use.
- Delivery to your exact postcode.
- Any additional charges shown or excluded at checkout.
- Dispatch estimate and whether stock is available now.
- Return conditions for the item and who pays return shipping.
For imported orders, read the seller's explanation of duties, taxes and courier charges. Do not assume that an amount is included unless the checkout or policy says so. Lasheslux does not calculate or collect these charges.
A lower product price is not always the lower order
Illustrative example, not retailer pricing: a R300 item plus R80 delivery totals R380. A R340 item plus R35 delivery totals R375. The second listing is R5 cheaper delivered even though its product price is higher.
Check stock beyond the landing page
A page that opens successfully can still describe a discontinued product. Look for the selected variant, an available purchase option and the stock or dispatch message. If a retailer changes availability after our check, its live product page and checkout take priority over a price snapshot on Lasheslux.
How our local edit works
Our catalogue identifies the retailer and labels affiliate links. Inthusiasm items are selected from its public store data, with stock and prices recorded when checked. Affiliate shopping links remain paused until account ownership and commission tracking are verified.
Save a shortlist, compare the final totals, and only then decide where to buy. One well-chosen order can be more useful than several small orders that each attract delivery charges.
